Man dead after snowmobile crash in northeastern Manitoba: RCMP

A 31-year-old man from Garden Hill First Nation is dead after a snowmobile crash in northeastern Manitoba, RCMP say.

Police were called at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday to the shores of Bella Lake, on Garden Hill First Nation, where community members had found a snowmobile and rider.

RCMP believe that sometime overnight, the man hit a large snowbank and then a tree, before he was thrown from the snowmobile. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, RCMP said.

The rider was pronounced dead at scene.

Garden Hill First Nation is about 475 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
