How many IT people does it take to help 78,000 kids learning online?

As the Thames Valley District School Board’s 78,000 elementary and high school students continue to study online, the board’s information technology services has kicked into high gear.

As the Thames Valley District School Board’s 78,000 elementary and high school students continue to study online, the board’s information technology services has kicked into high gear. 

We looked at some of the numbers associated with moving teachers and students from 132 elementary schools and 29 high schools online. 

  • 11,427: Devices such as Chromebooks and iPads were requested by families
  • 26,427: Devices were deployed to families since September 2020
  • 7,246: Devices were deployed since Jan. 4, 2021, when school moved back online 
  • 100: Number of people on Information Technology Services team who respond to troubleshooting requests
  • 12,000: Phone calls taken by IT since April 2020
  • 2,800: Number of service requests handled by IT
  • 52,000: Page views on web site that helps families navigate online school
